How do you calculate the weight of a steel plate?
The weight of a steel plate is calculated as Volume × Density. For a rectangular plate, Volume = Length × Width × Thickness. For a circular plate, Volume = π × (Diameter/2)² × Thickness. The density of mild steel is 7.85 g/cm³ or 0.2836 lb/in³. A 4×8 foot plate that is 1/4 inch thick: 48"×96"×0.25" = 1,152 in³. Weight = 1,152 × 0.2836 = 326.7 lbs. For stainless steel, multiply by the appropriate density ratio.

What is the difference between steel plate and steel sheet?
