Acreage Calculator

Calculate the acreage of any piece of land. Enter your length and width in feet, choose the shape, and get the area in acres, square feet, square yards, hectares, and square meters.

Square Feet = Length × Width (rectangle); Acres = Square Feet ÷ 43,560; Hectares = Acres × 0.404686
A 200 ft × 300 ft rectangular lot: 60,000 sq ft = 1.377 acres = 0.557 hectares = 5,574 sq meters. A circular 200 ft diameter lot: 31,416 sq ft = 0.721 acres.

How do I calculate acres from length and width?

Multiply length × width in feet to get square footage, then divide by 43,560 (sq ft per acre). For a rectangular 200 ft × 300 ft lot: 200 × 300 = 60,000 sq ft ÷ 43,560 = 1.38 acres. For irregular shapes, break into rectangles, calculate each, sum, and divide by 43,560. For circular areas: Area = π × r², then divide by 43,560.

How many square feet are in an acre?

One acre equals exactly 43,560 square feet. Common comparisons: 1 acre ≈ 208.7 ft × 208.7 ft (square), 1 acre ≈ 90% of a football field (without end zones), 1 acre ≈ 4,840 square yards, 1 acre ≈ 0.4047 hectares. An acre was originally defined as the area a team of oxen could plow in one day.

How do I measure acreage on Google Maps?

Google Maps: Right-click on start point, select Measure distance, click points around property boundary, finish at start point. The perimeter shows total distance. Google Earth Pro (free): Draw polygon around property, right-click and check Properties > Measurements for area in acres. Mobile apps: GPS Fields Area Measure, Geo Area Calculator. Always verify with professional survey for legal boundaries.

How many acres is a football field?

A standard American football field (including end zones) is about 1.32 acres. Field dimensions: 360 ft × 160 ft = 57,600 sq ft ÷ 43,560 = 1.32 acres. Without end zones: 300 ft × 160 ft = 48,000 sq ft ÷ 43,560 = 1.10 acres. Soccer fields vary from 1.5-2.5 acres depending on regulation size. Baseball fields need 2-5 acres for the full diamond.

What is a half-acre lot size in feet?

A half-acre is 21,780 sq ft (43,560 ÷ 2). Typical dimensions: 100 ft × 217.8 ft, or 150 ft × 145.2 ft, or a square roughly 147.6 ft × 147.6 ft. Quarter-acre: 10,890 sq ft (about 104 ft × 104 ft square). One-acre square: roughly 208.7 ft each side. Suburban lots typically range from 1/4 to 1/2 acre.
