Team A trades Pick #1 (3000 pts). Team B trades Pick #10 (1300 pts), #20 (850 pts), and #32 (590 pts). Team A Value: 3000. Team B Value: 2740. Difference: 260 pts.

What is the NFL Draft Pick Value Chart?

The NFL Draft Pick Value Chart (often called the Jimmy Johnson chart) is a numerical system used by NFL teams to assign a point value to every pick in the draft. This helps teams determine the fairness of trades involving multiple draft picks.

How do teams use these values?

Teams sum the point values of the picks they are giving up and compare them to the sum of the picks they are receiving. If the totals are close, the trade is considered balanced based on the model.

Is this the only value chart used?

No. While the Jimmy Johnson chart is the most famous, many modern teams use more analytical models like the Rich Hill chart or the Fitzgerald-Spielberger chart, which assign different weights to mid-round picks.

What is the most valuable pick in the draft?

The first overall pick (#1) is assigned the highest value, traditionally 3,000 points. The values decrease exponentially as the draft progresses into later rounds.
