What is Sadaqah?
Sadaqah is voluntary charity given out of compassion, love, friendship, or generosity. Unlike Zakat, it is not obligatory and can be given at any time in any amount to anyone in need.
How is Sadaqah different from Zakat?
Zakat is obligatory charity with specific rules, rates (2.5%), and eligible recipients. Sadaqah is voluntary, can be any amount, and given to anyone. Both are highly rewarded acts of worship.
How much Sadaqah should I give?
There is no fixed amount. Many Muslims aim for 1-10% of their income as regular voluntary charity. Give what you can afford consistently, even if it's small. The Prophet (ﷺ) said even a smile is charity.
Can I give Sadaqah daily?
Yes! Daily sadaqah is highly encouraged. Even small amounts given regularly accumulate great rewards. This calculator helps you plan monthly or annual giving based on your income.
Who can receive Sadaqah?
Sadaqah can be given to anyone: the poor, needy, travelers, students, for building mosques, orphans, widows, disaster relief, medical care, and more. It is more flexible than Zakat.
Does Sadaqah have to be money?
No. Sadaqah includes money, food, clothing, helping others, teaching knowledge, removing harm from the road, kind words, smiling, and any beneficial act done for the sake of Allah.
What are the benefits of regular Sadaqah?
Sadaqah purifies wealth, averts calamity, heals the sick, increases barakah (blessings), expiates sins, provides shade on the Day of Judgment, and multiplies rewards up to 700 times or more.
Can I give Sadaqah on behalf of deceased?
Yes, Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity) on behalf of deceased relatives is highly recommended. Examples include building wells, mosques, schools, or sponsoring orphans.
Is there a best time to give Sadaqah?
Sadaqah is accepted anytime, but extra reward is gained during Ramadan, Fridays, the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, and times of hardship or illness.
How do I calculate a percentage of income?
Simply multiply your monthly income by your chosen percentage (e.g., 5% = 0.05). This calculator helps you set a sustainable giving goal based on your financial capacity.
