Dog Harness Size Calculator

Get the fit right the first time. Enter your dog's chest measurements to find the recommended size for most standard walking harnesses.

Size = Categorized based on Chest Girth (inches)
Scenario: Your dog has a chest girth of 20 inches and weighs 25 lbs. Calculation: Girth (20") falls within the 17-24" range. Result: Recommended size is Medium (M).

How do I measure my dog for a harness?

The most important measurement is the chest girth. Measure around the widest part of your dog's ribcage, usually right behind the front legs. Keep the tape measure snug but not tight.

What if my dog is between sizes?

If your dog's measurements fall between two sizes, it is generally best to choose the larger size and adjust the straps for a secure fit. A harness that is too small can cause chafing and discomfort.

Do harnesses go by weight or measurements?

While some manufacturers provide weight guidelines, measurements (especially girth) are far more accurate. Dogs of the same weight can have very different body shapes (e.g., a Greyhound vs. a Pug).

How tight should a dog harness be?

You should be able to fit two fingers comfortably between the harness and your dog's body. This ensures it is secure enough not to slip off, but loose enough not to restrict breathing or movement.
