Archery Score Calculator

Calculate your archery score and track performance statistics. Enter the number of arrows for each scoring ring (10, 9, 8, etc.) to get your total score, average per arrow, accuracy percentage, gold hits, and skill level rating. Perfect for target archery, Olympic rounds, and practice sessions.

Total Score = (10s × 10) + (9s × 9) + (8s × 8) + ... + (1s × 1); Average = Total Score ÷ Total Arrows
6 arrows: 2 tens, 3 nines, 1 eight = (2×10) + (3×9) + (1×8) = 55 points (9.17 avg/arrow)

How is archery scoring calculated?

In Olympic/target archery, the target has 10 concentric rings. The innermost ring (gold center) scores 10 points, decreasing by 1 point per ring outward to 1 point for the outermost white ring. Missing the target scores 0. Total score = sum of all arrow points. A perfect end (6 arrows) = 60 points. A perfect Olympic round (72 arrows) = 720 points.

What is a good archery score for beginners?

For beginners shooting a standard round (60-72 arrows): 300-400 points is typical for first-year archers. 400-500 shows good progress. 500+ indicates strong fundamentals. Average per arrow: Beginners 5-6 points, Intermediate 6-7 points, Advanced 7-8 points, Expert 8-9 points, Elite 9+ points. Focus on consistency rather than just score.

What are the different archery round formats?

Common formats: Olympic Round (72 arrows at 70m, max 720 points), Indoor Round (60 arrows at 18m, max 600 points), Field Round (varies, typically 28-56 arrows), 3D Round (unmarked distances, scoring varies), WA 1440 Round (144 arrows at 4 distances, max 1440 points). Each has different scoring and distance requirements.

How do I improve my archery score?

Key areas: 1) Consistent form (stance, anchor point, release), 2) Practice fundamentals daily, 3) Focus on breathing and mental game, 4) Equipment tuning (bow setup, arrow spine), 5) Film yourself to identify issues, 6) Work with a coach, 7) Strength and stability training, 8) Start close (10-15m) and gradually increase distance. Consistency beats power.

What is the X-ring in archery?

The X-ring is the smaller inner circle within the 10-ring on modern target faces. While both score 10 points, the X-ring (typically ~6cm diameter vs 12cm for the full 10-ring) serves as a tiebreaker in competitions. An "X" is a 10 that hits the X-ring. In ties, the archer with more Xs wins. Elite archers count both 10s and Xs separately.

How many arrows are in a standard archery competition?

It varies by competition: Olympic Outdoor: 72 arrows (12 ends of 6 arrows), Indoor: 60 arrows (10 ends of 6 arrows) or 30 arrows (10 ends of 3 arrows), Field Archery: 24-56 arrows depending on course. In elimination rounds, archers shoot sets of 3 or 6 arrows. Practice sessions typically involve shooting 6 arrows per end.

What does grouping mean in archery scoring?

Grouping refers to how close together your arrows land, regardless of score. Tight grouping (all arrows clustered) shows consistency, even if not in the center. A tight group in the 8-ring is better than scattered 10s and 5s - you can adjust sight settings to move a consistent group to center, but inconsistent shooting is harder to fix. Good grouping indicates solid technique.
