What is a good running pace?
Beginner runners average 12-15 minutes per mile. Intermediate runners: 9-11 min/mile. Advanced: 7-9 min/mile. Elite marathoners run sub-5 min/mile pace. Your ideal pace depends on distance, fitness level, and goals.
How do I calculate my running pace?
Divide your total time by the distance covered. For example, if you run 3 miles in 27 minutes: 27 ÷ 3 = 9 minutes per mile pace. To convert to per kilometer, divide total time by distance in km.
What pace should I run a marathon?
Most runners aim for a pace they can sustain comfortably. A common strategy is to run your long training runs 30-90 seconds per mile slower than goal marathon pace. For your first marathon, aim to finish comfortably rather than chase a time.
How do I convert pace to speed?
Speed (mph) = 60 ÷ pace (minutes per mile). For example, a 10 min/mile pace = 60 ÷ 10 = 6 mph. To convert to km/h, multiply mph by 1.60934. A 10 min/mile pace equals approximately 9.7 km/h.
