Final Grade Calculator

Planning for finals? This tool helps you set realistic goals by showing you exactly what score you need to get that A, or what your grade became after the big test.

Needed = (Desired - Current × (1 - Weight)) / Weight Final = (Current × (1 - Weight)) + (Score × Weight)
Current: 85%, Final Weight: 25%, Want: 90% Needed = (90 - 85 * 0.75) / 0.25 = 105% (Impossible!)

What score do I need on my final exam to pass?

Use the "Score Needed" mode. Formula: Needed = (Desired - Current x Current Weight) / Final Weight. If the result is over 100%, your goal might be impossible.

How do I calculate my final grade after taking the exam?

Use the "Final Class Grade" mode. Formula: Final Grade = (Current x Current Weight) + (Exam Score x Final Weight).

How are final exams usually weighted?

Most final exams are weighted between 15% and 30% of the total grade, though some college courses may weight them as high as 50%.

What is "Current Weight"?

Current weight is simply 100% minus the weight of your final exam. It represents all the homework, quizzes, and tests you have already completed.
